Junior Sunday Stableford Competitions

Introduction.  The Junior Stableford Competitions are open to those junior members with a recognised CONGU handicap.  Two separate competitions are available; an 18 hole event for those juniors playing from either the mens’ yellow tees or ladies’ red tees or an alternate 9 hole event for those juniors playing off the forward junior blue tees.

Format.  The competition is played over about 13-14 Sundays from Apr to Oct and is an opportunity not only for the juniors to put in a card for handicap but also to compete against the junior community over the year.  Each card submitted is recorded and, after the last round is played, the junior with the 3 best net stableford scores in each competition over the year is declared the winner.  Trophies are available for both competitions are will be presented at the Club awards ceremony at the end of the season.

Results Sheet.  To check your progress and that of the other juniors a link to the Results Sheet is attached to this note.

Tee Bookings.  The first tee is reserved for those wishing to compete.   All juniors wishing to play are encouraged to use the Tee Booking system accessible in the members area on the York Golf Club Home Page.  Please note that reserving one of the tee times is only possible when logged in as a junior and not as an adult member.  If you are having difficulty booking tee times then please seek assistance from the Pro Shop or the undersigned.

Change of Category.  If a junior progresses from the forward blues tees to the mens’/ladies’ tees mid-way through the playing season then from that point on they will only be able to play in the 18 hole junior competition.

Adult Assistance.  Some Blues juniors are capable of conducting themselves appropriately on the golf course however to assist those juniors less familiar with the perils of playing a round and marking a card adult assistance to walk round the course is always welcome.
