Five miles north of historic York, York Golf Club offers a serene parkland and heathland course.
To enhance the reputation and enjoyment of the course and greens that are regularly described by visitors as “the best I’ve played on all year”, we have recently completed a five year course development programme.
This has included reshaping and rebuilding all the bunkers (and the addition of some new ones), lengthening holes through the creation of six new tees, and improving the aesthetic of the course through substantial work in the areas of trees, rough and green aprons and the introduction of thousands of heather plants.
Whilst the 7th is known as our signature hole - an intimidating par 3 over water, with trouble on both sides and a wickedly sloping green - there is no shortage of superb holes here at York.
In particular, we have a fantastic closing stretch of three holes which are both memorable and challenging.
The 16th and 18th are tough, demanding par 4 doglegs in opposing directions, while the attractive long par 3 17th requires an excellent tee shot to a narrow, sloping green encompassed by bunkers.
