Frequently Asked Questions

What practice facilities do you offer?

Our facilities cater to golfers of all ages and abilities. You can test yourself in our course-standard practice bunkers or hone your game across the driving range with covered bays, all-weather Huxley tees, and grass tees.

We also have a dedicated short game area and a pristine putting green to help improve your performance. In addition to our 18-hole course, we are developing a six-hole par-3 course, perfect for warming up, sharpening your short game, or introducing younger players to golf.

What is your dress code?

All members, guests and visitors are politely asked to wear appropriate golf attire at all times. To help maintain a professional and welcoming atmosphere, our Dress Code page has a full list of rules.

Can I book a round online?

Yes! You can book your tee time online by visiting our Book a Tee Time page, where current green fee rates are also available.

If you have any questions or experience issues with the online booking, please email the office at secretary@yorkgolfclub.co.uk

Do you have buggies available to hire?

We have a fleet of 8 electric EZ-Go buggies available for hire at £40 per round or £60 per day. To ensure a buggy is available for your visit, we recommend prebooking in advance, as demand can be high. To reserve your buggy, please call us on 01904 499800 – our team will be happy to help.

Do you provide any trollies to hire?

We offer a variety of trolleys to suit every golfer. From our state-of-the-art electric trolleys to a selection of manual trolleys, all are available for hire from the Pro Shop. Our team can advise on the best option to suit your needs and ensure you have an enjoyable round.

Do you hire golf clubs?

At this time, we do not provide golf clubs for hire – so you’ll need to bring your own.

How can I check ground conditions for buggies and trolleys? Occasionally, particularly during the winter months, our Course Manager may decide it is unsafe to use buggies on the course. In these instances, buggy hire will not be available. You can check the daily course conditions update on the homepage of our website for the latest information.

When do Winter Rules start and are fairway mats required?

Winter Rules start on 1st November. During the winter season, fairway mats must be used to help protect the course. However, players are allowed to move their ball into the first cut of rough and play from there without a mat. Mats can be hired from the Pro Shop before your round.

What type of catering can you provide?

We offer an extensive catering menu ranging from light refreshments and buffets to formal sit-down meals. All dishes are freshly prepared to order, using local produce wherever possible. Our Head of Catering, John Roberts, and his team are happy to discuss your requests and can accommodate a wide range of special dietary needs.

What selection of drinks can you offer?

Our well-stocked bar features a wide selection of beers, spirits, cocktails, and wines, alongside a variety of soft drinks. Tea, coffee, and light refreshments are also available, ensuring something for everyone to enjoy.
