Proudly helping visually impaired get into golf

York Golf Club is thrilled to have expanded our community outreach programme by partnering with charity MySight York to deliver coaching sessions tailored for people with visual impairments.

The initiative, supported by England and Wales Blind Golf and The National Lottery Community Fund, has seen strong attendance since its launch in 2025, with many participants trying golf for the first time.

With sessions taking place on the course, driving range and our indoor studio, we can offer a warm, weather-proof environment for players to build on the skills the learn no matter what the weather.

Under the guidance of club professional Mark Rogers, who has completed specialist training to lead the programme, participants begin with a warm-up before progressing to chipping and putting drills.

The sessions are designed not only to teach golf’s fundamentals but also to create a sense of community for those who may otherwise find the sport inaccessible. MySight York selected us as the host venue because of our strong transport links, high-quality coaching and provision of equipment for beginners.

The Vision Impaired sessions usually run on the last Wednesday of every month from 2pm to 3pm, with optional tea and coffee from 1pm.
