YGC Women’s Section

Membership for women at York Golf Club is available in the same categories as for men, and the annual subscriptions are the same.

We are proud that our Women’s section is one of the most successful in the region. We have over 100 active playing members and around 75 social members, all of whom have access to and can enjoy a wide range of golfing and/or social events. We welcome new members of all abilities from complete beginners to experienced players. So, even if you are just curious and want to see what golf is about, come along and meet our friendly members. 

We organise both weekly competitions and social golf ( Club events ) to cater for everyone, from those whose primary enjoyment of golf centres around competitions, to those who value the social aspect more highly.

In addition to our Club events, we take part in outside events ( External events ) such as Yorkshire Ladies County Golf Association (YLCGA) Inter-Club competitions and the Yorkshire Veteran Ladies Golf Alliance.

For members new to golf, we have the Academy which offers an excellent introduction to golf with group coaching, mentors and playing sessions on the course. Full details are in the Academy Membership section .

Many of our social members join us for coffee or lunch on our Tuesday competition days, as well as taking part in the Club’s social events that run throughout the year and include quizzes, music nights and bistro evenings.

During the year we hold fun competitions, away days at other clubs, invitation days, Open competitions, and social/charity events.

The Club has recently become a signatory to the R&A Women in Golf Charter , demonstrating the Club’s determination to ensure that golf is inclusive for all and that it will continue to encourage women and girls to join and thrive here at York.

All in all, we believe York Golf Club offers women the best opportunity to play golf - whether as a junior, an adult starting to play for the first time, or for those looking for either a new challenge or a more vibrant Women’s section. So please get in touch as we would love to welcome you here.
