General Terms of Competitions

Eligibility and handicaps

You are eligible to enter competitions if you are an amateur playing female member of the Club, provided you hold a Handicap Index under the World Handicap System.

Note: Junior Girls holding a Handicap Index, are treated as full members for the purposes of eligibility for Ladies’ competitions.

In addition to holding a Handicap Index, you must have submitted minimum of four Acceptable Scores, in the 12 months previous to the date of the competition.

An Acceptable Score is a score for a round played in accordance with the Rules of Golf, in an authorised format of play, with at least one other person who also has a Handicap Index, on a course with a current Course Rating and Slope Rating. Authorised formats of play include all individual competitions, and pre-registered "social scores" in General Play, whether they are played at YGC or elsewhere. This does not include cards used to gain initial handicap.

Ladies are responsible for checking their own handicaps on their cards.

General Competition rules
1. Before playing in the competition, all competitors must sign in on the computer, obtain a scorecard, and pay the appropriate entry fee (generally in the Professional’s shop).
2. Competitors may play outside the tee times reserved on the day of the competition (but not before 7.00am - see point 4. below). They must, however, register before play on the computer and they do not have any priority on the course. Such competitors may play with a marker but the marker must be a member of the Club and hold a Handicap Index.
3. Any competitor who books a starting time for a competition and then does not turn up at the due time without notifying his playing partners and the Professional’s shop in advance, may be suspended from subsequent competitions under the Club’s “No-shows” policy.
4. Play may not commence before 7.00am in any strokeplay competition, unless otherwise notified. This is to enable the greens staff to prepare the course so that all competitors play the same course.
5. On completion of their round, all competitors must deposit their scorecard in the official scorecard box; at this point they are deemed to have returned the card and no changes can be made to it. Competitors should also enter their scores on the computer scoring system.
6. The results of the competition will be processed by the Ladies Competition Team and published on the Club website; at this point the competition is closed and the results are final.
7. The use of a buggy (ie. a ride-on motorised vehicle) is not permitted during the competition, unless the competitor has submitted medical evidence that she needs to use a buggy and has received written notification from the Managing Secretary that she is certified to use a buggy in competitions (in which case the buggy will be for the sole use of the competitor and her own equipment).
